  • I got to the station earlier than Veli.
  • İstasyona Veli’den daha önce vardım.

Düzensiz sıfatların karşılaştırma ve derecelendirme (comparative and superlative) formları ise şöyle yapılır:

well – better, badly – worse, far – further/farther

little – less, a lot/much – more

Aşağıdaki örnek cümleleri inceleyelim:

  • My mother drives better than my father.

Diğerleri: already also just still even only

Bu zarflar, fiilden önce, yardımcı fiillerden (have, will, can, must) sonra, am/is/are/was/were fiillerinden sonra gelirler:

  • She always comes here at weekends.
  • O her zaman buraya hafta sonları gelir.

  • certainly like London.
  • Ben kesinlikle Londrayı severim.

  • Ahmet often gets ill.
  • Ahmet sık sık hasta olur.

  • We already know each other.
  • Biz zaten birbirimizi tanıyoruz.

  • She hardly ever sees him.
  • Onu neredeyse hiç görmez.

  • You are certainly right.
  • Kesinlikle haklısın.

  • It will probably rain tomorrow.
  • Muhtemelen yarın yağmur yağacak.

  • I have already read that book.
  • Bu kitabı zaten okudum.

Soru cümlesi oluştururken, sıklık ifade eden zarflar genellikle özneden sonra gelir. Aşağıdaki örneklere bakalım:

  • Do you ever write poems?
  • Hiç şiir yazarmısın?

  • Has Veli always lived here?
  • Veli daima burda mı yaşadı?

  • Are you often in London?

  • She plays tennis two or three times a week.
  • Haftada 2 ya da 3 kere tenis oynar.

  • She wins a game once or twice a month.

  • Does she practise ever afternoon?
  • Her öğlenden sonra pratik yapar mı?
